Let me guess: you want to delivery the best results to the company you work at or even your own business, is that correct? If your answer was “YES!”, then you’re on right path!

Managing a project isn’t just about mastering the techinical skills, it’s far from being just that. Managing a project is more about dealing with people and making them believe in the work and give their best version and effort on a project in order to achieve the best results. But before we jump right into the framework topic, let’s check up on first steps to better understand how you’re actually going to manage a project.

Well, let’s start first with the basic stuff, right? First of all, if you’re willing to delivery a great project, you might already know you’ll need to lead a team. Also, companies have been seeking even more for leaders. But, don’t missunderstand the meaning of “leader”. For more informations about it, just click on this link: What makes a leader?

Now, let’s go through the meaning of “project”. According to MyManagementGuide, a project can be defined as “a temporary, unique and progressive attempt or endeavor made to produce some kind of a tangible or intangible result (a unique product, service, benefit, competitive advantage, etc.). It usually includes a series of interrelated tasks that are planned for execution over a fixed period of time and within certain requirements and limitations such as cost, quality, performance, others.”

Finally, now that you understand what true leadership looks like and the defination of project, we can move forward to the the main topic: SCRUM.

\"But, what is SCRUM and why is it so important to get a great final result?\"

SCRUM is a framework used to plan and manage projects. “Schwaber refers to Scrum as a framework and not a methodology. This is primarily due to the connotations around the word methodology, which many infer as prescriptive in nature. By contrast, Scrum simply provides a structure for delivery, but does not tell you how to do specific practices, leaving that to the team to determine.” [Project Management Institute].

There are several frameworks, but I´ll be focusing on one of the bests, SCRUM. According to a research Scott Ambler leaded back in 2008, 82% of the companies that utilized agile methodologies or frameworks achieved the best results in terms of productivity and, 77% showed an impressive improvement in the quality of the products. In 2010, Ambler found that 55% of projects that had used agile methodologies succeeded. The graphic below presents what were the agile methodologies used by the companies in the reaserch:
